The Shtick
The Shtick is a weekly television program showcasing the Australian Jewish Community, broadcast on the Melbourne and Geelong community station channel 31. You can tune in to The Shtick on Channel 31 on Monday nights at 10:30pm and repeated on Wednesday afternoons at 2:30pm.

The Shtick is about to begin Season 12, which starts in early March. The Shtick has, for almost 4 years (since Sept. 2004), been seen weekly on Channel 31, reaching an audience of up to 75,000 viewers per week (Oz Tam Ratings Jan. 2007).

The Shtick is a showcase of spontaneous, improvised Jewish entertainment television, produced hot and fresh every week. Have a look at the list of episodes for a list of previous guests. Since September 2004, our production team has revitalised Jewish community TV. This team has produced more than 130 half-hour TV shows (March, 2008), showcasing all facets of Jewish life, including music, art, culture, humour, politics, religion, food, education, sport and other activities of interest to the community.

Celluloid Soup, Melbourne's only Jewish Short Film Festival, is an initiative of the Jewish Museum of Australia (JMA). This sensational festival runs every two years and is one of the highlights of the Melbourne cultural scene.
Incorporating Jewish themes into film sparks dialogue, and uses Judaism as a point of reference for people to express their points of view. Whether the films we screen refer to Jewish concepts, history or culture, Celluloid Soup benefits Australia's cultural landscape immensely. This festival is an important cultural event for all filmmakers, and we encourage people of all abilities to express themselves through the medium of film. The Festival is for people of all cultural, religious and professional backgrounds and promotes a deeper understanding of how Jewish issues relate to the world as a whole.
